No, this should not be required. This is an international site, and people from all over the world deserve to get answers to their Workplace questions, without having to bear the additional burden of explaining their issue in a manner that people from other locations would understand. 

Besides, exactly what are people from other locations going to do with that explanation? For example, I am from India, I don't know what the TN visa means (apart from the one line definition found from a search engine). I cannot answer that question anyway, so I will leave that to someone who understands the TN visa better than I do. 

This is not a school test. It is not necessary for everyone to attempt to answer every question. We are working together as a community to provide good answers. We should cover each other's backs, and not get into a race to be the first to answer every question.

For similar reasons, please avoid suggesting (or approving) edits with currency conversions (usually to USD) whenever someone mentions an amount of money in other currency, or those explaining how a certain ID is "equivalent" to some other ID (usually SSN).
