This is becoming too engineering focused
@StephanKolassa Please read my answer to this question. As a moderator on Programmers I have a very strong opinion about migrating questions from the Workplace.

Summer 2014 Moderator Election Q&A - Question Collection
To answer your question because it is directed at me, I am not going to pretend like I will be as active on the site as @enderland but I feel I take a balance between preserving and promoting good content and encouraging community participation which I am concerned is missing in the stronger candidate. I have experience in this with Programmers.

How should we deal with questions where the OP is looking for someone to tell them something that they want to hear?
I wish I could accept this answer as it is most favourable to my situation.

Maybe my bias is bulging, but I didn't think this was an unanswerable question. Your assessment of the question presumes that it is unanswerable in an objective way. I know that somewhere in Greenwich, England in the same facility that operates the Atomic Clock is the authoritative volume on Best Practices and Procedures for giving Employment Resignations. Do's and Don'ts that mere commoners like myself are not privy to without expert guidance :)

Is 'Quit your job' an acceptable answer?
Great answer! I agree completely, some situations are so helplessly bad that quitting is the only way to make anything better. Any answer that doesn't explain WHY that is the best course of action though should be deleted IMHO.
